Michaela, of Soulchemy Metals is a silversmith in Wilmington, NC. She is inspired by all things natural.
As a little girl, she was fascinated with the simple beauty of the stones she saw her mother & grandmother wearing.

Our
Process
I wanted to capture Soulchemys natural and earthy aesthetic. We first talked about what colors represent Michaela’s brand.
We ended up going with teal, sage, and eggshell as all of these colors promote calm & serenity.
In terms of iconography, Michaela’s first thought was that she wanted some version of a crown with the third eye integrated. After doing some sketches, I found myself continuing to add a star somewhere in each sketch.
After trying out a few versions of a more traditional crown shape, I stumbled across a ceremonial crown used within indigenous tribes. It was adorned with a large silver star in the center of a plaque.
I floated the idea to Michaela, and she loved it. Michaela is also a Leo, which is ruled by the Sun, so it was a perfect symbol to represent her and her brand.
